Description

For fans of Melissa Febos and Roxane Gay comes a reflection on patriarchy, feminism and internalized misogyny through the story of one woman's rise to become a 'conscious stripper.'

Deborah began stripping in the 1990's out of a desire to escape her background and empower herself. This decision begins a journey that takes her around the world.

In doing so, it leads to a shift in her own perspectives on sex work and a deeper understanding of herself: perfecting the business and politics of being a dancer, learning through the economic insecurities that drive sex work, embracing female mentorship, deconstructing her history of sexual abuse and practicing reclamation as it pertains to her healing.

Through Deborah’s struggles, we grow with her as she embarks on her own pivotal journey to understand and overcome her past and develop a deeper consciousness; her rise of becoming a 'conscious stripper.’
