About the Author

MELISSA ROSE LAWRENCE: I am interested in foreign languages and foreign cultures. I received a Certificate in Mandarin Chinese, Japanese and Spanish from New York University School of Professional Studies and I took Level 1 and Level 2 of Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi, a Chinese language proficiency test, and achieved a near perfect score on both levels. In addition, I received a Certificate in the Fundamentals of Digital Photography from the New York Institute of Photography. CHENG-WEI "WILLIAM" LIEN: During the week I am an Electronic Engineer but during the weekend I am an amateur photographer. In order to relax from a long workweek, I usually ride a bicycle around Taipei City and New Taipei City and take pictures. I enjoy taking pictures because photography challenges me to look at my familiar surroundings with a different perspective. That is why it makes me happy to introduce the Taiwanese way of life through my photos.
